YOU  WORK FOR THEM does interviews with the people behind their design related products. It makes sense, and if you want to buy something, then that’s good too. Most recently they have interviewed Jose Luis Martinez, art/director and photographer from Mexico City who is now based in San Francisco and some of their past profiles include the young Norwegian designers from Yokoland and Geoff McFetridge who recently did the film-clip for Golden Cage by The Whitest Boy Alive.

bumblebeez // new video dir. tom kuntz

24.04.07 - Chris Barton - art, film, music

Modular have just released the video for ‘Dr Love’, the first track from the Bumblebeez upcoming album. Directed by Tom Kuntz it’s clever and slightly disturbing - but clever always is. Part Mad Max, part JT-esque dance routine, Kuntz manages to display surreal theatrics alongside a grimy reality where object and person are treated as one. But that’s just our pretentious guess. The clip can be viewed at the Modular People website - in the news section.

snakes on a blog // !

Everyone’s favourite snakes, The Serpents, have just started a blog. The group, formalised by Tristan Ceddia, began as a power in numbers thing, a creative focus group of sorts, that drew in and upon the various creative talents of its members. Although some wanted nothing more than to be in a gang, what has sprung from it has been much greater than just hanging out at the milk bar. And now they are also looking tough online.

For those not already familiar with their antics, The Serpents have been involved in an eclectic range of projects. They have decked out the interiors of shipping containers, guest edited Hijacked Magazine, collaborated on in-situ magazines, hosted cinema screenings for underground films, not to mention curating our NowNow Gallery. But of course you know this already.

Although we’re never ones to discount the knowledge of our readers, what you may not be aware of is that they also run Serps Press, a dynamic publishing company that so far has been responsible for ‘Home Made Tattoos Rule’ by Serps Press founder Thomas Jeppe, ‘Surprise Tough Times’ by Christopher Day, and ‘Westside’ by Conor O’Brien. They have also recently released ‘Venom 3′ (image below), printed digitally with Fluoro cloth binding and an impressive single image cover and back. Available for $10 at Dobry Den (Sydney), The Outpost (Brisbane), Schwipe (Melbourne) and Keith & Lottie (Perth) it’s more than a keepsake – it’s a keeper. More images from ‘Venom 3′ after the jump
