We don’t write posts about sales. Except for this one. And you will thank us for it because we’re telling you not to blow all your money over the Easter weekend. That being said, even if you do, this will be worth checking out for the building alone.

It’s not easy to keep up with concepts, particularly if they are designed to evade. Having already hit Glasgow, Berlin, Hong Kong, Singapore and Warsaw Comme des Garcons new Guerrilla Store (+4812) opened in a disused factory in Cracow, Poland last Saturday March 24. Label founder Rei Kawakubo says that her ultimate goal is to “carry on having a free and independent company”, a statement which rings true as they continue to satiate our desires for fresh uses of urban spaces, challenging devotees to engage in an experience that goes beyond a mere retail exchange. There’s no window shopping to be done here. See more photos over at Hypebeast.

take a good look at yourself // street peeper

There has been a lot of discussion over at the Opulent site about Melbourne street fashion photos. The discussion mainly surrounds the site Third Best (who have received interest from Fairfax digital) and their lack of information and limited number of locations. The question of sustainability is also raised due to the many other sites out there, both locally and internationally, that seem to do a similar thing at times - us included. Obviously, people like looking at themselves, and street photography has potential to document street culture but there are only so many images you can take before you begin to need something more.

So god bless synchronicity because just as we were about to start crying, we were greeted with a link to a new site STREET PEEPER (via PSFK). What separates Street Peeper from the rest is that each image is tagged with information on what the subject is wearing, making the site searchable via style, designer and colour. Street Peeper makes beautiful people useful - now that’s progress.

does it get any lamer? //

19.03.07 - Chris Barton - news, online

No. It doesn’t get any lamer than ‘blogging’ about your ‘myspace’. But we’re not going to let that stop us becaused we’ve just de-pimped our profile and turned it from nownow pics to nownow because it just seems to make sense. If you become our friend we promise never to post heaps of bulletins or put gig flyers in your comments.

Muscles - Original Photo

We love big calls, particularly when they are from internationally recognised music sites and especially when they are talking about local artists. In a recent post about Muscles - which now seems not to permalink - Gorilla Vs Bear said “We don’t make guarantees around here too often, but how’s this: “Ice Cream” will be the 2007 summer jam of the year. Guaranteed. If you don’t agree, turn it up.” They also said some other pretty nice stuff which we agree with. You can check out Muscles this Friday at Children of the Night supporting Japanther or opening at Golden Plains festival.

On that note, we should also give props to one of our contributors Tranter whose band Gameboy/Gamegirl were recently featured in Palms Out Sounds for their track ‘Sweaty Wet / Dirty Damp’.
