From San Diego, California, THE PRAYERS are ex-members of one of my all time favourtie bands (and one of the greatest live shows I’ve ever seen) The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower. So when I heard this I thought that it’d be some post-Contortions violence, but oh how I was wrong. Think of the cheekiness of The Plot, with a heavy influence of powerpop, brit pop, a touch of surf rock, and you’ve got a pretty good idea. Their EP, God Save The Prayers, is one of the best indie releases in a while and they currently touring with everyone’s fave juvenile powerpoppers Mint Chicks in the USA. Rumour has it both bands will be touring Australia together very soon. Somebody please make this happen.
